Mighty Thor Visits One-Year-Old Boy

Hello friends! Many of you know I recently moved to a new site. At first I thought I could keep up with both and do duplicate posts, but it's just too much work.

Today's post of one of my all-time faves since I've been blogging. Who woulda thunk writing a post about an action figure coming to visit me could prove to be so much fun?

And the YouTube video I made to go with it is probably the best one I'll ever make, thanks to translating baby babble into a conversation about the visit from Thor. It all seemed to fall into place. And it was a blast!

Please hop over and check it out here, especially if you're in need of a giggle or two!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day - Photo Essay

Happy St. Patrick's Day, friends!

If you're on Wordpress, you can read this same post on my new site at:

This guy in the camouflage kilt showed me some funny poses for a couple of random photos.

Our family celebrated St. Paddy's Day a week early at the Los Angeles County Irish Fair and Music Festival at the L.A. County Fairgrounds in Pomona, California. It was a blast, so I'm sharing some photos with you.

A family affair at the Irish Festival with my husband, three of our four kids, their spouses, and our two grandchildren

My grand-leprechauns loved the Irish Festival, too.

For your listening pleasure, here's a YouTube video of Comedian
Johnny Bagpipes Johnston. Amazing!
He plays the Star Wars Theme by John Williams
I Was Made For Loving You by Kiss
Do You Think I'm Sexy by Rod Stewart
 Thunderstruck by ACDC
The Lion Sleeps Tonight by The Tokens

Entertainers and visitors alike wore kilts.

Color this day green!
In the fountains, in the beer,
on shirts, baby strollers, and people's hair!

This was our first Irish festival and it had everything we hoped for (lively music, dancers, good food) and then some: Carnival rides, ponies, elephants, a petting zoo, and sheep herding demonstrations.

The Irish tunes worked their magic on some of us, so we danced a jig or two!
I added to my bucket list: Learn how to Riverdance.

Do you know the history of Saint Patrick? If not, watch this cute video.

I was going to save this fun video for next year,
but for those of you who enjoy Irish dancing as much as I do,
I hope this will lift ye spirits and bestow the luck'o'the Irish upon ye, too!
You're not buying that accent, are you?
I didn't think so, but, hey, I tried.

Closing time drew near, and my husband mentioned there was a little Irish village we should check out before we left.

I love miniatures, so I definitely wanted to see it. He pointed the way so I headed for it with my daughter 'Lily' while the others straggled along here and there. I spotted vendors selling beautiful period clothing, jewelry, hair accessories, pirate booty, medallions, home decor, and other merchandise. So many things caught my eye, but I didn't want to miss out on the little Irish village.

I told my daughter, "Dad said the little Irish village was somewhere over here, but I don't see it. Where do you think it is?"

She gestured to the vendor booths with their elaborate fabric walls and the merchants wearing historical costumes. "This is it, Mom."

"Oh." Duh!

I was disappointed for a second, then busted up. Merchants in a nearby booth overheard us and had a good laugh, too.

So, we left without a pot of gold or a peek at a miniature village. I'll get over it. Memories of our first Irish Fair make me smile each time it comes to mind. We're looking forward to going again next year. We'll have two more grand-leprechauns in tow for the 2014 festival. As the old saying goes, the more, the merrier!

I bid you farewell with this Irish blessing:
May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks.
May your heart be as light as a song.
May each day bring you bright, happy hours
That stay with you all the year long.

Do you have any special plans for Saint Patrick's Day?

Have you ever been to Ireland, or would you like to go there?

Would you kiss the Blarney stone?
(I'll be moving this blog to Wordpress permanently soon. I hope you'll hop on over and sign up to follow me there: http://lynnkelleyauthor.wordpress.com).

Am Recharging

I'm taking time off from blogging to
rest,
recharge,
and
reconnect with people.

There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening, that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. ~ Martha Graham

How do you recharge? Is there a secret you'd like to share?

HELP THE ELF: I Found Santa’s Missing Nice List!

Hi everyone! As you may remember, a few weeks ago PETE the Elf had a touch too much Eggnog at the Holiday Christmas Party and as he stumbled home, he lost Santa's NICE LIST.

The North Wind scattered the papers to all four corners of the world, and The Bookshelf Muse put out a call to help find them in order to SAVE CHRISTMAS.

Ever since I read about it, I've been on the lookout. And then today, EUREKA!

Yes that's right...I found part of Santa's missing NICE LIST. There it was, fluttering in the wind, half caught under the corner of my welcome mat. And shock of all shocks, I recognized the name, and I bet you will too.

Here it is below:

ImageChef.com

NAME: Robyn Campbell

LOCATION: Robyn Campbell (Putting Pen to Paper)

NICE LEVEL: 99%

NAUGHTY LEVEL: 1%

OBSERVATIONS: Robyn is not only supportive and kind to all, but she has a knack for lifting people's spirits and making them smile. Or laugh. Or dance a happy dance. She's been through one crisis or tragedy after another this past year, yet she still comes through for her family and friends, offering hope and kind words. Sometimes she loses her temper, though, and lets an "Oh, fiddlesticks!" slip out. We still love ya, Robyn! Mwah! Sugar pops and gumdrops!

RECOMMENDATION:     a) Coal                   b) Gift

~ ~ * ~ ~

Because poor Pete is dashing all over the place trying to hunt down the rest of Santa's missing Nice List, I decided to take care of this one myself. Robyn, I'm truly blessed to know you! Enjoy the gift I sent to your inbox. Wishing you and your family a bodaciously wonderful Christmas!

How about you, Readers? Is there someone you'd like to say Happy Holidays to or tell them how much they mean to you? Join us! There's plenty of time left before Christmas, and sometimes a kind word can lift someone up in a way they really need.

It's as easy as sending a free ecard or email note, posting on a Facebook wall, or sending out a tweet. So go ahead and spread some kindness and cheer!

Test Run of My Story on Real Kids

I've been struggling to keep up with everything lately and have been scarce here. Thanks to blogger buddies like Bish Denham, I'm still plugging along. Bish invited me to guest post on her blog, and today is the day!

Testing the work in progress of Curse of the Double Digits on a second grade class in 2008 made for wonderful memories in my writing journey. Please hop over to Bish's blog, Random Thoughts, to read about it.

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.

The children didn't have the benefit of seeing any illustrations when I read my manuscript to them. The teacher, Mrs. Kyle, had them draw their own!
